Spa Philosophy
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wai Ora Spa’s philosophy revolves
around the holistic concept of wellness
where individuals are at ease with
themselves- in mind, body and spirit-
as well as the world around them.
For Maori, the
indigenous people of New Zealand,
the world around them is a spiritual
one where they are directly connected
to all the elements. Accordingly,
Maori look to their relationship
with these elements as a source
of wellbeing where “Papatuanuku’
mother earth is the provider of
all sustenance and “Ranginui” sky
father, is the provider of our life
essence. The resources of our geothermal
reserve in Rotorua , New Zealand
and the healing therapies as well
as the Miri Miri massage reflect
this connectiveness to our spiritual
ancestors and the need for “balance”.to
remain at ease with the world and
those around us. The “Wai Ora Mania”
our company symbol, acknowledges
the three baskets of knowledge handed
down to us by our ancestors, the
nurturing elements of our world
for individual growth and our bond
between Papatuanuku and Ranginui.
The Wai Ora Spa therapies epitomises
all of these elements that make
us who we are today and who we wish
to become.
Traditional Thai
therapies are the result of traditional
philosophies, bodies of knowledge
and practices that have been used
to care for the health of Thai people
that is in keeping with Thai culture
and based on the principles of Buddhism.
It is a holistic and natural approach
to health which respects nature
and the wisdom of Thai ancestors.
As its basis is the belief that
the human body is composed of four
elements “Tard” namely earth, water,
wind and fire. When the four elements
are in balance, the body is healthy.
Dis – ease or an imbalance can also
occur externally from these four
elements. Illness can be caused
by supernatural power, by the power
of nature, the power of the universe
or by “Kimijati” (microorganisms)
and is influenced by the four elements.
Thai massage and other Thai Therapies
are designed to bring an individual
into balance with themselves and
the world around them. The Leelawadee
flower symbolizes this approach
to holistic wellness.
Wai
Ora Spa is a unique blend of these
two cultures that has as its goal
the nurturing of the individual
to a state of balance and wellbeing.
